Media Release

Mangaluru, Sep 5: At a press meet held at the mall on Wednesday September 5, Fayaz M H, center manager, Forum Fiza Mall said, "We are happy to share with you that this year we have partnered with some of ?the best names in the industry like Poorvika Mobiles, S L Shet Jewellers & Diamonds, Sangeetha Mobiles and M S Sportswear. This is the biggest run in India to raise awareness of Alzheimer's across seven Forum Malls in six cities namely Mangaluru, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Mysuru, Udaipur and Chennai at the same time for a single cause. Alzheimer's is the fifth leading cause of death in people over 55 years old and in India, more than 4 million people suffer from some form of dementia. Despite this, there is a stigma attached to mental illness amongst us.

"'Forum Purple Run' mission is to raise awareness on Alzheimer's and reduce the risk of dementia through the promotion of brain health. Our vision is a world without Alzheimer's.

"The Purple Run offers running distances of 3 km (family run), 5 km, 10 km and half marathon distance of 21 km across seven Forum Malls in six cities thereby giving each participant an opportunity to contribute to a cause of their choice. Alzheimer's is a progressive and irreversible neurological disorder that impairs basic neurological functioning.

"This year we hope to make a change by taking a pledge along with 20,000 participants across Forum properties to remove stigma against mental health. Proceeds from this noble cause will be donated to People's Association for Geriatric Empowerment, besides this event is also a stepping stone to promote healthier lifestyle among participants."

He also said, "People who want to participate in the run may register their names on www.forummalls.in or visit our customer service desk at Forum Fiza mall, upper ground floor.

A poster of Purple Run was later released by him.
