Mangaluru, Aug 31: The DDU Kaushal Kendra of St Aloysius College (autonomous) in association with Applied Science Departments will organise a one-day National Conference on ‘Recent Innovations in Nanomedicine and Drug Delivery’. The programme is sponsored by ‘Star College Scheme’ of DBT Government of India and scheduled to be held on September 3 at 9.00 am at the LF Rasquinha Hall, LCRI Block.

The conference aims at providing a common platform to students, teachers and researchers to exchange and share their experience on applications of nanomedicine. Dr V Rajendran, principal, Dr NGP Arts and Science College (autonomous) Coimbatore, Tamilnadu and Dr M Vijaya Kumar, vice chancellor, Yenepoya University will be the chief guests.

Dr Rajkumar Banerjee, principal scientist, Applied Biology Division, CSIR Institute of Chemical Technology, Hyderabad will deliver a lecture on ‘Nanodrug against Cancer’.

Dr Ashwini Sharma, department of Chemistry and Biology, IISER, Tirupati will address the event on ‘Oligonucleotides from detection to therapeutics’.

Dr Vathsala PG, principal research scientist, IISc Bengaluru, will speak on ‘combination therapy for malaria’ and Dr Geetha Balakrishna, director CNMS, Jain University, Bengaluru will address on ‘Quantum dot- bioprobes for pathogen detection’.

More than 400 participants from various colleges and universities are expected to participate.

Dr Adarsha Gowda from the department of BVoc Food Processing & Engineering is the convenor, Dr Ambarish C N and Shameena K A from the department of Biochemistry are the organising secretaries.
