Mangaluru, Aug 18: The inaugural function of the two day national workshop on 'Advances in Machining Processes (AIMP) 2018, organised by department of Mechanical Engineering was held on August 17 at Srinivas Institute of Technology, Valachil here.
Dr Raviraj Adhikari, professor, MIT Manipal was chief guest of the function. The inaugural function was presided over by Dr Thomas Pinto, head of Mechanical department, Srinivas Institute of Technology.
Dr Raviraj Adhikari, in his address to the gathering mentioned about the advanced machining technology currently used in industries to achieve higher productivity and accuracy. H also mentioned about Skill Development and Make in India Programme where this kind of advanced machining process has to be introduced for its success and the faculties of institutes must undergo training for this advanced machining technique to make the students industry ready.
Dr Thomas Pinto in his address mentioned how these advanced machining processes are involved in industrial revolution. He suggested that advanced machining is a wide topic where the faculty can undergo research activity. Dr Srinivasa Mayya D, principal of the college congratulated the coordinator and the organising committee for organising this kind of workshop in the college.
The gathering and guests were welcomed by Dr Shankar K S HOD of Marine Engineering and Prof Jayaram Thumbe delivered the vote of thanks. Master of Ceremony was Prof Shashank S.
