New Delhi, Oct 10: The Indian Cricket League announced that Rs 13.92 crore, which includes Rs two crore to the winning team, is the total prize-money on offer for the ICL 20s Indian Championship, starting on Friday at four centres across the country.
The runner-up in the 41-match tournament, which will see nine teams in the fray, will take home Rs one crore, the losing semi-finalists would each get Rs 50 lakh and each win in the preliminary stage will fetch Rs 25 lakh, the ICL said in a statement.
The man of the series will be richer by Rs 40 lakh while the man of the match will get Rs 200,000, it added.
ICL Executive Board member and former Test stumper Kiran More said the monetary incentive would motivate the players.
"I am sure this will work as a major incentive for all our players and motivate them to give cent per cent to their team and the viewing public every time they take the field," he said.
The final of the tournament, which opens in Hyderabad, will be held on November 16. Panchkula, Gurgaon and Ahmedabad are the other match-staging centres.
