Chitradurga: Insulted by hall supervisor, girl student commits suicide in hostel

Chitradurga, Jul 29: A girl student ended her life at her hostel room here on Friday July 28. Reportedly she felt humiliated and insulted by the comments passed by the supervisor of her examination hall.

The student, Anuroopa, was from Hariharapura village in Pavagada taluk in Tumakuru district. Her parents are Janaki and Ramamurthy. She was a second year BSc (horticulture) student.

It is said that supervisor of the examination hall where she had appeared for the examination, room supervisor had criticized her, accusing her of writing on the desk with a pen and thus indulging in malpractice, in spite of being the daughter of a teacher. It is said that these words hurt Anuroopa so much that she committed suicide when alone in the hostel room.

A case about this unnatural death was registered in Hiriyur rural police station.
