Beltangady: Illegal beef transportation - two arrested

Beltangady, Jul 29: Police from the local station arrested two persons from near Killur here, when they were transporting beef illegally. During the police operation, two other persons succeeded in escaping, it is said.

The arrested persons have been identified as Antony alias Shiju from Palebettu in Indabettu village, and Verghese alias Shaji from Aggottu in Devasya village. Arif Kallaje and Sabith Yermal were the ones who fled from the scene.

After being tipped by reliable sources about beef being illegally transported in a Maruti Eeco vehicle, a team led by local assistant sub-inspector, Kalaimar, stopped the vehicle and conducted checking. The illegal beef transportation was unearthed during this operation.
