Mangaluru: Having hit by container lorry, scooter rider dies

Mangaluru, Jul 26: In an accident which happened at the railway over-bdige at Bykampady here on Wednesday July 25, the rider of a scooter was killed. The victim has been identified as Hameed (70), resident of Shantinagar, Kavoor.

Hameed was riding his scooter towards Kulur from Suratkal on national highway 66, when a container truck which came from the direction of Suratkal reportedly hit the scooter when attempting to overtake it. Hameed, who fell to the road along with his vehicle, suffered serious injuries. He was immediately taken to a private hospital for treatment. But he did not respond to treatment, and breathed his last, it is gathered.

A case against driver of the container truck, Rajesh from Bykampady, holding him responsible for causing this accident, was registered in the city traffic (north) police station. Investigation is under way.

    The Baikampady rail over bridge itself is an 8th wonder of the world. It looks so scientifically built. Hats off to the designing and shoddy work. There is no point on talking about this. God knows who is responsible for this.
