ICYM Puttur deanery organises Yuva Drishti

Puttur, Jul 25: The Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) of the deanary recently organised a one day youth gathering programme Yuva Drishti - 2K18 with zeal and enthusiasm at Mai De Deus Church Hall, here.

Youth from Kadaba, Kokkada, Nelyadi, Panja, Uppinangadi, Puttur, Bannur parishes attended the programme. A prayer song led by the youth commenced the programme.

James Crishal Dsouza, president ICYM Puttur deanery welcomed the gathering. Fr Alfred J Pinto, vicar Forane, Puttur deanery presided over and inaugurated the programme as well as inaugurated the three initiatives taken by ICYM Mangaluru diocese namely: Red Drop Campaign, Each Plant One Plant - Grow Green, Drishti and implemented
those initiatives in the deanery along with Fr Praveen Dsouza, director, ICYM Puttur deanery, J P Rodrigues, vice president, Parish Pastoral Council, Mai De Deus Church, Puttur, Frenton Irol DSouza, Public Relations Officer, ICYM Mangaluru diocese and ICYM Mangaluru diocesan representative for Puttur deanery were present as the guests on the dias. Anil Lobo, former diocesean president, Catholic Sabha was the spokesperson for the programme and addressed the youth on the importance of youth in our society.



The holy Eucharistic celebration was celebrated for the youth followed by lunch. In the post lunch session Fr Ronald Prakash Dsouza, director, ICYM Mangaluru diocese, Fr Ashwin Lohith Cardoza, assistant director, ICYM Mangaluru diocese along with the executive members of ICYM Mangaluru diocese were present. Fr Ronald Prakash Dsouza and Fr Ashwin Lohith Cardoza addressed the gathering with a short message.

Youth were divided into groups and lots of activities along with games were conducted by ICYM Central Council Executive members. Rakshith Pinto, secretary, ICYM Puttur deanery delivered the vote of thanks. Deepak Dsouza, joint secretary, ICYM Puttur deanery compered the programme. After the concluding ceremony, saplings were distributed to all the youth (one each) as an initiative - Each One Plant One - Grow Green.

On this auspicious day a total of 30 youth pledged their eyes for eye donation as an initiative - Drishti. It was a fun filled day for all the youth of Puttur deanery with an entertainment session, games and a day to remember.
