Mangaluru, Jul 20: Kalyanmayee unit of Airport Authority of India (AAI), Mangaluru International Airport, conducted an awareness campaign on menstrual hygiene here at Government First Grade College for Women at Balmatta on Friday, July 20, under the CSR initiative of AAI.
Principal of the college Ramanath Pai said, "Our college has grown high in terms of educational activities. We also need to concentrate on maintaining health and cleanliness. We should be aware about disposing pads in a proper way and make sure to maintain our health in a good way. Today, AAI have taken up the initiative to hold this awareness programme. Students need to hear and follow it. All of you need to educate others regarding menstrual hygiene.”
Speaking on menstrual hygiene, addressing the students, former psychology lecturer Verina Joshna said, "Avoid using cloth pads and prefer sanitary napkins to be more hygiene. You should maintain yourself clean, take bath daily and keep your body parts clean to avoid infection. Even while disposing used pads, throw them into dustbins by wrapping them in a piece of paper.
Coordinator of Kalyanmayee and PA to airport director Hazel Concessao welcomed the gathering and briefed about the menstrual hygiene .
This is the second awareness programme conducted by AAI on menstrual hygiene.
Kalyanmayee president Sujana Rao urged students to educate your family, friends about menstrual hygiene.
Meanwhile, sanitary pads were distributed to the students.
