Mangalore Toastmasters completes fifteen fruitful years

Mangaluru, Jul 10: “Excellent Communication is the key to success. Mangalore Toastmasters Club is the right platform to hone these skills,” said Mr. Ananth G Pai, the director of Bharath Groups, Mangaluru. He was speaking as the chief guest at the installation ceremony of the office bearers of Mangalore Toastmasters Club, for the year 2018-19.

Mangalore Toastmasters’ Club is one of the ten Toastmasters clubs in Dakshina Kannada- Udupi Districts, and is the second oldest club. The club completes 15 years this month, having been chartered in July 2003.

The installation programme of the new team of leaders this year was held on July 4, at BMS hotel, Mangaluru. The team is headed by the president, TM Sapna Shenoy and consists of Sergeant at Arms, TM Kavitha Kamath, treasurer Dr Sapna Ramaraj, secretary TM Gayahtri B J, VP public relations, TM Sindhu Prabhu, VP membership, TM Shyamprasad Hebbar and VP education TM Yvonil D’Souza.

The programme began with the rendition of a prayer song by TM Chandrashekhar Palekar. Immediate past president, Shariq Ali, welcomed the gathering. The club’s newsletter ‘Dreams’, was unveiled by TM Sukanya Rao, the chief editor and DTM C K Ballal, the district chief judge, District 92.

The report of the year was presented by TM Sindhu Prabhu through a PPT.

The best toastmaster of the year award is an annual feature. Members look forward to it with a lot of enthusiasm. DTM Anita Cordeiro broke the suspense by announcing the names of the members who had won the coveted Award. Division director, DTM Savitha Salian conferred the award which was shared between TM Mareena Seema Sequeira and TM Yvonil D’Souza.

The new office bearers were installed by the area director, Area F3, DTM Sujatha Kotian. TM Sapna Shenoy, the incoming president in her acceptance speech sought the co-operation of all the members to fulfill the 15 special goals the club had envisioned to mark the 15th anniversary of the club.

The programme concluded with the vote of thanks by TM Gayathri.

TM Divyashree Gatti, the leadership development programme coordinator, and TM Melroy D’Souza and compered the programme.

    Congratulations to Mangalore Toastmasters Club for completing 15 glorious years of their successful existence in Mangalore. It is always a pleasure to attend at least once the fortnightly meeting of Mangalore Toastmasters who are proving themselves so well as Leaders of the community by creating such fine gatherings with some of the best Speakers and Communicators. There is so much to be given unto others by the fortnightly gatherings and sharing so many talents that benefit each and every member.

    Mangalore has always proved to be one of the best intellectual Cities of South India, and amongst so many other philanthropic activities, I must confess that Toastmasters is one of the best talented groups that enrich the quality of this unique City of India. We have produced some of the best leaders and communicators in our society, and we are helping the City to move forward as one of the "best" Smart City of India.
