Bengaluru: Heavy rain predicted from July 6 to 11

Bengaluru, Jul 4: The meteorological department expects heavy monsoon rains to be experienced in coastal areas and some interior places between July 6 and 11. Currently, the intensity of monsoon has drastically come down in these areas. While coastal Karnataka received good rainfall on Tuesday, Uttara Kannada experienced heavy rainfall on Monday night.

The prediction says that most places of coastal region and some places in northern inland are expected to get heavy rain for five to six days from July 6 onwards. The rainfall will be particularly intense in Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Uttara Kannada districts, the department stated. In a few places, the department says, rainfall may occur to the tune of 115 mm.

Some places in north inland like Bagalkot, Belagavi, Dharwad, Bidar, Gadag, Haveri, Kalaburagi, Koppal and Vijayapura districts are also expected to get very heavy rainfall. South inland areas may get normal rainfall during this period. Some places in Chikkamagaluru, Hassan, Kodagu and Mysuru districts may get very heavy rains, the officials said, based on current indications.

Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre officials too has occurred with this prediction. Its director, Srinivas Reddy, said that coastal areas, several places in north inland and some places in south inland are expected to get very heavy rainfall, whereas other areas may get well spread out rain.
