Udupi, Sep 26: Speculations are rife in the coastal districts about the roles played by the persons from the districts, who are operating secretly for the terrorists, from here, in spreading terrorism across the country. The theory that several organizations having bases in Mangalore, Kasargod, Udupi and Bhatkal might have lent the culprits tactical support for the activities, is gaining ground.
It is believed that these persons get money through hawala transactions. Some sources guess the money involved in the recent activities to about a crore of rupees while one of the news channels pegged the figure at three crore rupees.
The money might have flowed in from the gulf region, Pakistan or Bangladesh. It has now been established that the terrorists had hide-outs here and that their functionaries were always ready to provide them protection and supply necessary things. It is thought that two persons from Mangalore and another from Manipal facilitated the visit and stay of Mohammed Saif. It is also believed that the materials required for making the bomb were gathered together and stored in rural places of the twin districts.
It may be recalled that recently Rs 40 lac had been recovered from persons travelling by trains, at Kasargod. This money was attributed to illegal hawala transactions. There is a strong possibility that this money was actually meant to be delivered to the fugitives in the coastal districts.
