Riyadh, Sep 18: A large number of members of the Konkani community here celebrated Monti Fest, recently. The new corn was brought from Mangalore and delicious homemade traditional vegetarian, food including 'allum-dhento', 'thoushya karamb', 'sango', 'bende', 'mogen', 'thendlim', 'ghosalim', 'sonna', 'ambya chutni', 'lonchen' and 'vorn' was served to all on plantain leaves. This dinner was prepared by community members.
Arun D'Souza, Palimar, welcomed the gathering. Ambrose D'Mello, Pangla, conducted the prayer, and concluded with the hymn 'Sokkod sangatha mellyam', and 'Moryek hogollsiyam'.
Mother Mary's quiz was conducted by Jessy D'Souza, Ashok Nagar, and Jacinta Rego, Kulshekar. Recreational games were conducted by Henry Gonsalves. Tug of war & breaking the pot was the highlights of the evening.
Eric D'Sa, Pangla, thanked the gathering for making the day a very special one and gratefully acknowledged the efforts of all who dedicated their precious time preparing the traditional 'noven jevan'.
