Mangaluru: ABSMIDS holds 33rd annual college day, awards function

Mangaluru, Apr 11: The 33rd annual college day and awards function of A B Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences (ABSMIDS), Deralakatte, was held April 7 at K S Hegde auditorium, KSHEMA.

Prof (Dr) B H Sripathi Rao, principal, Yenepoya Dental College, Mangaluru, was the chief guest for the programme. Prof (Dr) U S Krishna Nayak, principal and dean, ABSMIDS, presided over the function.

Toppers in various specialties at UG and PG level were felicitated and presented with certificates of merit and gift cheques. The award winners of cultural and sports activities of the various inter class competitions were also felicitated. The ‘Best Rural Satellite Centre’ was identified and awarded during the function. Deepika Jayakrishnan Nair was awarded the ‘Blue Ribbon of the College’ and Muhammad Safwan Bin Mustafa Kamal was awarded the ‘Best Final BDS Boy Student of the Year’. Prof (Dr) Chethan Hegde, head of the department, prosthodontics, read out the list of award winners.

Prof (Dr) Sripathi Rao, with four decades of teaching experience, was felicitated on the occasion.

Prof (Dr) Rajendra Prasad, director of PG studies and all the heads of the departments, were present on the occasion. Kevin Thien Kuang Hu, student president, read out the report of students’ council activities for the year and Satpreet Singh, rendered the vote of thanks.
