Hubballi, Apr 2: BJP leader and MP Prahlad Joshi who made a controversial statement by comparing Sadar Sofa in Hubballi as 'Mini Pakistan’ justified it even after a case was registered against him on April 1.
Justifying his statement on Sunday April 1 Joshi said that since he had received several complaints regarding Sadar Sofa area he made such remark. "But I have full faith in the judiciary and I will fight it out," he added.
It may be recalled that delivering a speech in Hubballi, Joshi on Friday had accused that weapons were stored in mosques illegally and compared Sadar Sofa to 'Mini Pakistan'.
Following a complaint filed by Jamat mosque head Mohammed Haneef, a case was registered at Kasabapete police station on April 1. The police registered a case under IPC sections 153a, 298. In the complaint office bearers of the mosque alleged that the statement of the MP would spread hatred and cause communal disharmony in the locality.
Earlier Joshi made headlines after he wrongly translated BJP chief Amit Shah's speech.
This is not the first time BJP leaders have been accused of inciting communal clashes by making provocative statements. In December 2017, an FIR was registered against BJP MP Shobha Karandlaje in Honnavar for allegedly spreading hatred among two communities after mysterious death of a youth named Paresh Mesta.
