Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru (RJP)

Mangaluru, Apr 1: It was indeed a nite of transition as the organizers planned the theme of the musical show. Young talents including semi finalists from the Daijiworld TV Reality Show ‘Mhozo Tallo Gaitalo’ enthralled the Konkani music enthusiasts and made the Easter night blissful.

The show  278th edition of Wilfy Nite started with a brief stage programme. Meena Rebimbus Fr Pius D’Souza Carmelite, Doha Qatar based entrepreneur and philanthropist Felix Lobo, his wife Stephanie Lobo, Daijiworld founder and editor-in-chief Walter Nandalike and his wife Wilma D’Souza were on the dais.

Fr Pius D’Souza wished all the best for the nite with prayers.

Walter Nandalike said “Wilfy’s contribution to Konkani music is enormous. We started a reality show to honour him on his platinum jubilee year titled ‘Mhozo Tallo Gaitalo’. When we started the reality show, we did not know that we would reach so far. Now we have so many young talents here who will entertain you. A day is not far off when we will have more than 30 quality singers in Konkani, all products of this reality show. This is the best tribute we can give to the legend,”

Felix Lobo recollected his association with Wilfy Rebimbus. He said he was his fan, but never ever thought he would interact with the legend one day. “Our friendship continued. I am here today to pay tributes my own way. He said he want to take rebirth in the same land and as a Konkani man. People said Wilfy should have received national awards from the government. But he felt that his fans were the best reward. Wilfy is an ocean of talent. We may not find such a man in the future. These nites are indeed a tribute to him,”

'Fokana, Fokana' a video CD containing the skits by ‘Dol-Fel-Chal’ comedy skits was released by Felix Lobo.

“Ek Ghadi Hason Khadi’ a book of humour written by Cyril G Sequeira, popularly known as CGS Taccode, was released by Walter Nandalike.

A souvenir on Wilfy Rebimbus on his platinum jubilee year was released by Fr Pius D’Souza.

Fr Denis D’Sa, Joyce Mathias and Alwyn Noronha Bajpe, the judges of the reality show were honoured.

CGS Taccode compered the stage programme.

Eddie Sequeira briefed about Wife Nites and the legacy of Wilfy. “Two things have not changed in Wilfy Nite. First is the name of the nite and second is the type of music. We have never disappointed our fans,” Eddie said.

Good job, dear Meena, Viswas and Veena, and the rest of the group for initiating a gathering such as this in the name of "Wilfy Nite". These kind of seasonal gatherings only allow the Community to wake up and render their hand of support for a cause that is worthy and essential.

We are also pleased to witness so many new and young faces on the stage, and that is a good indication to know that more and more younger audience is becoming enthusiastic in the group effort for a community cause.

All of us have priorities in our daily pursuit of life, but rendering an encouragement to the language that we possess and the culture that we cherish so dearly must be upheld under so many other circumstances.

Best of luck to you all, and thanks for your continuous effort in promoting our talents and enthusiasm on the stage from time to time.
