Mangaluru: Yenepoya Institute distributes scholarships to students

Mangaluru, Mar 29: “Students in this era of competitions should progress by hard work and be determined to form an excellent society by developing knowledge and skills,” said Dr Vishwamohan Kathoj, head of the department of NASI-ICMR at Rajasthan University of Health Sciences, Jaipur.

He spoke after handing over scholarships to students who have secured highest marks in SSLC, PUC, degree and post graduate studies under the aegis of Yenepoya Foundation and Yenepoya University, units of Yenepoya Moideen Kunhi Memorial Educational and Charitable Trust. The programme was held Wednesday, March 28 at Yeneopya University Endurance auditorium.



“An excellent future backed with good moral values can be formed if the talents of children are identified and encouraged while they are young. It is commendable that institutes such as Yenepoya are extending educational support to such students,” he said.

Yenepoya group president Yenepoya Abdulla Kunhi who chaired the programme said that Yenepoya Moideen Kunhi Memorial Educational and Charitable Trust is identifying students and educational institutes with excellent academic achievements and encouraging them. “Nearly 4,400 applications were received when we invited applications for scholarships. 392 students among them are selected for scholarships. Those are intended to help and encourage backward class students,” he said.

Yenepoya Moideen Kunhi Memorial Educational and Charitable Trust president, Y Mohammed Kunhi; Yenepoya VV vice chancellor, Dr M Vijaya Kumar; IAE trustee, Dr C P Habeeb Rehman; K Khalid Bava; registrar Srikumar Menon; Abdulla Javed and others were present.

Nearly 392 students who secured highest marks from different institutes and five educational institutes which recorded 100% results were felicitated. The scholarships include cash ranging between Rs 3,000 and Rs 10,000. The scholarships distributed among students and among institutes of Kasargod, Dakshina Kannada and Udupi amounted to Rs 15 lac.
