Mangaluru, Mar 29: Yathish, son of Narayana from Narikombu village in Bantwal taluk had left his home at 7.30 pm on March 24 in the company of his friend, Shashidhar. He had told his family members that he would be back after witnessing Kabaddi match being held at Innipadpu village that night. He did not return thereafter. The family, after searching for him and failing to find him, had filed missing complaint in the town police station at Bantwal on March 26.
The police who investigated the case found that Yathish was murdered by his own friend because of jealousy arising out of love triangle. The culprit, Shashidhar, stands arrested and the police personnel have been interrogating him.
Both Shashidhar and Yathish were in love with the same girl. Shashidhar wanted to ensure that the girl in question becomes his life partner. After hatching a plan to kill Yathish, he had pressurized him to accompany him to the city. He behaved as if he was a very close friend and well-wisher of Yathish. Both took part in the 'Ramotsava' programme organized at Nehru Maidan here. Shashidhar then took Yathish to near State Bank where he got Yathish fully drunk. Both then visited the fishing dock at Bunder.
The fishing dock then was deserted and Shashidhar sensed that he had a golden opportunity at hand to achieve his objective. He pushed Yathish into water and left from there immediately. On March 26, the body of Yathish was found floating in water. The police, during the course of inquiry, realized that it was of Yathish, about whom a missing complaint was filed in Bantwal.
The police, who have taken the accused into custody, have transferred the murder case to Bantwal town station.
