Thank you, Sr. Jeswina, for organizing a two day gathering at St. Agnes College honoring late Mrs. Indira Gandhi who had been successful in creating dozens of milestones in India, and certainly deserves to be honored at this time when the women of the World are moving forward with lots of dignity and pride for all their contributions.

Indira Gandhi has watched the freedom struggle for India while her own father was actively involved for decades under the leadership of Mahatma Gandhi and many other freedom fighters. Indira Gandhi tried to unify the nation during the difficult times of India's transition as a powerful Nation on this earth while women were not recognized very much.

Indira Gandhi was a close supporter of her father in some of the toughest times of India's struggle for freedom and then the initial days of our Independence. It is a pride for St. Agnes College to initiate a Conference such as this that will solidify all the greatness contributed by Indira Gandhi that will enable all the students of St. Agnes College to appreciate the role of women in changing India.

Indira Gandhi died thru the assassin's bullets of her own body guard, and the Museum that has been created in her own simple home will remain to be a monument for life of the Nehru era in India. Indira Gandhi's sad demise helped Rajiv Gandhi to rise to the helm of his power from an airline pilot, but was also victimized by another suicide bomber.

Sad calamities have overshadowed the Nehru family for decades, and the life of a dedicated family will remain as a lifelong memory to the Nation that has always stood by Peaceful Nonviolence and has proven to be the most valuable weapon in this exciting and fast changing world where the women are thriving to power.

Thank you, Sr. Jeswina, for all your good work. We would like to meet with you on our next visit to Mangalore.
