Udupi, Mar 17: “Rahul Gandhi’s visit to coastal district will give a boost to our party members to work hard and win the upcoming assembly elections,” said chief whip Ivan D’souza while addressing a press meet here on Saturday March 17.
Speaking to the reporters in Udupi about Congress president Rahul Gandhi’s visit to Udupi and Mangaluru he said, “Congress national president Rahul Gandhi will arrive to Yermal on March 20 at 12:30 pm and will be taking part in the inauguration of Sevadal therein. He will participate in a road show from Padubidri to Mulky the same day.”
Speaking about the public meetings in Mangaluru, Ivan said, “There will be a road show from Jyothi circle to Nehru Maidan. Rahul Gandhi will be addressing public meet in Nehru maidan. At least 15,000 Congress workers from each constituency will participate. He has received a huge positive response during Hyderabad-Karnataka and Mumbai-Karnataka yatras. He is a great inspiration for volunteers to work hard.”
“This time around, there will be Rahul Gandhi wave in the state. In recent elections under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi, Congress has performed better. In Uttar Pradesh, BJP lost Yogi Adityanat’s constituency. In Yogi’s electorate place, BJP only got 43 votes whereas Congress got second highest number of votes. Adityanat has spoken many unparliamentarily words in his recent Mangaluru visit. In upcoming elections, Siddaramaiah government will win all the five constituencies in Udupi and eight in Dakshina Kannada.”
Replying to reporters about him contesting elections, he said, “I am willing to contest from Mulky – Moodbidri constituency. The present MLA Abhayachandra Jain had once said about giving chance to new leaders to contest. High command will decide about the ticket. Congress is a real democratic party where even a common party volunteer can file application for ticket. If I didn’t get the ticket I will work for Abhayachandra Jain like a soldier.”
CM Siddaramaiah, KPCC President G Parameshwar, state in-charge Venugopal and other Congress leaders will participate in the public meeting at Nehru Maidan.
