Byndoor, Mar 11: The annual car festival of Kollur Goddess Mookambika Temple was held amidst fanfare and devotional frenzy on Saturday March 10. Sea of devotees filled the streets to participate in the festivities.
Religious rituals like Muhoorta Mangalarati, Panchamrita Abhisheka, Kshipra Bali, Vishesha Bhoota Bali, apart from installing of the idol of the Goddess in the chariot were held under the direction of temple Tantri, Nityananda Adiga.
Various procedures held since morning culminated with the pulling of the grand decorated chariot of the temple in the evening.
President of the temple managing committee, Harish Kumar Shetty, members, Vandabally Jayaram Shetty, Ramesh Ganiga Kollur, Narasimha Halageri, Manjunath Adiga, Rajesh Karanth, Abhilasha P V and others, temple executive officer, Janardan G C, assistant executive officer, Krishnamurty, and superintendent, Ramakrishna Adiga, were among those present.
Priests and the public together ensured that the event was a grand success. Police provided tight security all along the festival. Several CCTV cameras had been fitted along the route leading to the temple to stop unsavory incidents from happening.
