Mangaluru, Mar 9: As an ode to mothers and the teachers, Prestige International School and PU College celebrated International Women’s Day on Thursday, March 8, at the school auditorium.
The celebration was inspirational to all women present as the chief guest Soujanya Hegde, an acclaimed anchor dancer and actress of Mangaluru, encouraged women to appreciate themselves. The guest of honour Fahmida Ibrahim, Lion’s Club president, known for her humanitarian work, shared her life experience to bolster the courage of women. The programme was presided by MD Reshma Hyder who felicitated the winners of various competitions conducted as part of women’s day celebrations.
Under the guidance of the principal Feroza Fayaaz, various spot games and group games were organized by the teaching staff. School counsellor Dr Ruksana Hassan surprised the audience with a dance session led by the Sanjana Hegde.
The celebration also highlighted the theme of IWD 2018 ‘Press for Progress’, where the women were encouraged to be a part of positive media and promote women’s rights. It was a day to remember and appreciate the achievements of women in all the fields of life.
