Mangaluru, Mar 5: Hardeep Singh, deputy inspector general (DIG), CISF headsquarter, Chennai, on Monday March 5 flagged off the Navayuga Express special A/C coach for Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) from Mangaluru to Jammu Tawi here at Central Railway station.
Speaking to reporters, Hardeep Singh said, "I thank CISF and the railway ministry for this step as this will help the armed police forces to travel during emergency or on duty. Sometimes they face hardships, especially when they need to travel during some emergency, and inclusion of special coach will make travel easier for them. This is a morale booster for them."
The 64-seater special coach is attached to Navayuga Express that will travel from Mangaluru to Jammu Tawi. This is only for Central Armed Police Force personnel who travel on duty or during emergency. They can travel along family members, irrespective of rank.
Train number 16031 - Chennai to Jammu Tawi (tri-weekly) was flagged off on March 1. Train number 16032-Jammu Tawi to Chennai (tri-weekly) was flagged off on March 3rd. Train number 16687 - Mangaluru to Jammu Tawi (weekly express) was flagged off on March 5 and train number 16688 Jammu Tawi to Mangaluru (weekly express) will be flagged off on March 8th.
