Mysuru, Mar 1: Pratap Simha, member of parliament (MP) took a dig at actor Prakash Rai over the defamation case filed by the latter for Rs 1 on him and said that the amount denotes his actual worth in the society.
He was speaking to scribes here on Wednesday, February 28 and giving his clarification against the suit filed by Prakash Rai in a city court here over the post, which the MP shared on social media that stated 'Raj slept with a woman when his son died'.
Simha said, "Raj should have filed the defamation case for three paise (muru kaasu) as that is his actual worth among the film lovers and the general public for his cinema and personal life."
"People of Kodagu and Mysuru district know my caliber and that is why I have been elected by them. His notice of the case was received by my office when I was not in town. The sender's name was mentioned as Prakash Raj from Jubilee Hills in Hyderabad. I was bewildered by the name as I could not recognize the person. Then I had to write a letter to the sender to clarify whether his name is Prakash Raj or Prakash Rai. It is quite deplorable that certain individuals keep names as per their suitability like it is done on the silver screen," he replied to the query of his reaction to Prakash Rai's comments on him.
To the query of journalists on his opinion about Raj's view on Ananth Kumar Hegde, central minister, Simha said, "It is really amusing to note that Rai is asking people to refrain from voting for Hegde. He does not know what capabilities are required to turn a person into a leader of people. Let him contest, win an election and show." The MP also challenged Raj to contest from Congress party itself.
"Chief Minister is responsible for the law and order of a state. How come Prime Minister Narendra Modi is questioned for the loss of law and order in the state of Karnataka? Raj seems to be a villain not only in reel but real life also," he added.
