Kasargod, Feb 23: The investigating team arrested Arun (26), resident of Puliyannoor Cheetharlam, the main accused in murder of retired teacher P V Janaki, resident of Puliyannoor, Chimeni on Friday, February 23.
Arun had allegedly fled to Bahrain after the murder came to light. Police had taken help from Interpol to arrest him.
Members of Kerala based associations in Bahrain nabbed him and handed him over to the Indian embassy. He was brought by Air India flight via Abu Dhabi to Calicut airport this morning on Friday.
Bahrain Kerala tourist commission member Zubair Kannur was with him. He handed over Arun and his passport to Hosadurga police circle inspector C K Sunil Kumar who had come at the airport.
Arun was later brought to Chimeni police station for questioning. The police also took him to the house of Janaki and gathered details.
Arun has been working in Bahrain for the last two years and had come down on vacation recently. He had reportedly killed Janaki with the help of two other accomplices and fled to Bahrain on February 5 to evade arrest.
Police had arrested two other accused Vishakh (27) and Rinish (20), both residents of Chimeni Puliannur Cherkalam on February 22. All three have been produced in the court and are sent to judicial custody. Police said that they will be submitting a request for additional judicial custody for questioning.
