Mangaluru, Feb 21: St Aloysius College post graduate department of chemistry will be celebrating the decennial year of ‘Analyst’ since the inception of the subject association Alchemy. On this occasion, a national level intercollegiate fest 'Analyst' will be organized on February 22 at LF Rasquinha Hall.
The 137-year-old Jesuit institution located in the heart of the city, offering various UG and PG programmes started MSc Analytical Chemistry in the year 2007, having an excellent academic and placement record. Following this, MSc Chemistry was initiated in the year 2012 establishing itself as another feather in the cap of the college. The department is keenly interested in establishing academic linkages by building partnership in areas of education, research and development in the field of chemistry.
The programme will be inaugurated by Prof Suhas Pednekar, principal and professor of Chemistry, Ramnarain Ruia College, Mumbai and presided over by Fr Dr Praveen Martis, principal, St Aloysius College (Autonomous), Mangaluru. The head of the department Dr Ronald Nazareth, the president of Alchemy Association, Dr Vinola Rodrigues, the student coordinator Gopee and the assistant coordinator Pratheksha will also be present on the occasion.
The students of undergraduate and postgraduate studies from different colleges will be engaged in nine different events- Chem dance, Seminar, Quiz, Rangoli, video juggling, turn coat, Collage, face painting and star of analyst which will stimulate their creativity and logic, all centering around learning with fun. It is a platform for both the undergraduate and post graduate students from various colleges to interact and explore the mystery of chemistry. About 25 departments/colleges are expected to participate in the fest including colleges from Gujarat, Goa and Bengaluru.
The chief guest for the valedictory programme will be Dr K V Malini, principal, Canara College, Mangaluru and the programme will be presided over byFr Denzil Lobo.
