Udupi, Feb 19: Milagres Englsih Medium School on February 17 organised a grand and fabulous 'Passing Out Parade' for its 10th std students well planned and executed by the 9th std students.
The outgoing batch looked awesome in their colourful attire. The programme commenced after a quick photo session. Each student entered the hall with a lit candle symbolising their life. The initial prayer service added spiritual aura to the event. On behalf of the outgoing batch, Juwariya and Aishwarya Bhat shared sentiments and memories of their school days from KG to 10th std.
Fr Stany B Lobo, correspondent of Milagres Educational Institutions was the chief guest. He distributed mementos to the outgoing students. The toppers at diocesan level catechism and value education were also felicitated. The juniors shared their sentiments about the seniors. In his speech, Fr Stany B Lobo congratulated the students for choosing this institution. He expressed joy in seeing some of them speak fluent English. He wished them all the very best in their future studies.
The guest of honour Laxman Nimbargi, Superintendent of Police, Udupi district arrived for the cultural extravaganza. He gave away the prizes for the 'Best Study Groups'. In his address he shared his tough life experiences. He said that though he came from a Kannada medium background, he did not lose hope of a great career. He also encouraged them to place their goal in front of them and their teacher behind them. “I scored 94% in 10th std and struggled in first PUC to cope with English. Though I did not do well in I PUC, I could not believe that hardwork and commitment could give me 99% marks that changed my life forever.”
Several spot games and presentations of past memories added glamour to the celebration. Dr Neri Cornelio and Owin Rodrigues, representatives of the management committee, Ratnakar Kotian, president of PTA, Veera D Silva, headmistress and Fr Lancy Fernandes SJ, headmaster were present. The programme ended with a sumptuous lunch.
