Udupi, Feb 17: "BJP president Amit Shah has visited Karnataka state three or four times recently. We have listened to what he had said and replied to all his queries and accusations. At least this time let him speak the truth," said Dinesh Gundu Rao, state working president of Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) at Udupi.
He was speaking to reporters in here on Saturday, February 17.
Continuing his attack on BJP, he said, "Do not ignite the communal feelings of people of our state. Let BJP tell, what it has done to resolve the issues of people of this country? Let them refrain from making false accusations against our government. Amit Shah should speak in a responsible manner. He should strive to convey the truth to people,”
"BJP is attempting to unleash politics of terror. We do not have any issues with the visit of Amit Shah. Let him try to upkeep the well being of our state,” he added.
"Rahul Gandhi's visit to northern Karnataka is a success. No one has taken the contract to go to temple or masjid. Temples are not BJP's property. They should abstain from speaking about our visits to the temple. It is our culture to visit temples. Rahul Gandhi has visited several temples. BJP is projecting as if the Hindu religion belongs only to their party and other political parties do not have any connection to Hindu religion,” he said.
"Let Amit Shah visit Maths and temples and also churches and masjids. Let him visit the houses of all those who are deceased. BJP does not have the right or ethics to question us to why we have visited the house of a certain slain person," he concluded.

Udupi, Feb 17: KPCC working president Dinesh Gundu Rao inaugurated the silver jubilee of the 73rd amendment in Constitution and panchayat raj during a cooperative convention here on Saturday February 17 at town hall, Ajjarkad.
The event was organized by Rajiv Gandhi Panchayati Raj Sanghathan, Udupi district.
Addressing the gathering, Dinesh Rao said, "The late Rajiv Gandhi dreamt of decentralization of power. He aimed to give power in the hands of local panchayat members. Moreover, he tried to empower women and develop leadership among youths. Congress is promoting and encouraging women to take one step forward which is not possible in ruling party because of Modi and Amit Shah who dominate over others in their party. Congress is working towards building the nation. When Indira Gandhi was the Prime Minister, the Congress government brought so many land reforms and social reforms such as ownership of land, voting rights to women and others.
"RGPRS is a platform to build national consciousness regarding devolution of power to the people at the grassroots by expanding their political opportunities and participation in Panchayat Raj and urban local bodies and empowering them. The amendments also paved way for 50% representation of women in elections which was laid down by many state ECs.
"Modi simply wasted one hour with his speech in the parliament by commenting on Nehru instead of responding to the President’s speech," he said.
"Nobody from the RSS or Hindu Mahasabha were freedom fighters. They did not take part in Quit India movement and no Hindu activist sacrificed his life for the nation. BJP is simply talking about separation of Kashmir. Congress has given a part of Jammu without any complications. BJP should understand the present condition of Jammu and Kashmir after their four year rule at the centre.
"The death rate has increased in the nation. BJP has no time to answer to the mess and failures created in governance. The Prime Minister Modi did not conduct a single press conference regarding the national security. Some TV media are acting as spokespersons of PM Modi. They are not working for change but to glorify Modi," said Gundu Rao.
"Congress had announced 33% reservation for women long back but was not able to enact it due to some reasons. Now it is BJP’s turn to materialize the reservation for women because the power is in their hand. What has Modi government done to strengthen the panchayat raj? The BJP leaders are threatening and blackmailing opposition leaders by CBI raid and IT raid. They are saying that they will make Congress free country. This is a low level of politics by BJP. It is a shame to democracy. Let people choose their own representatives.
"“Amit Shah is a liar and lying is his nature. People are fed up by his speech. The popularity of union government is decreasing. They have centralized the power into one hand to rule the country. People are losing faith in the Constitution," he said.
"Karnataka government has stood up to the promised made in election manifesto. The investment and employment (in 2012 was eleventh place) has increased in the state. The state budget, this year, is a supplementary to all earlier plans and for a better future of the state.
Gundu Rao further said, "PM Modi announced a new scheme called ‘Ayushman’ but nowhere has he released any budget for the same. The all schemes of BJP are Jumla (empty promise). Modi is building a dream India without having any sincerity and commitment."
“State government is also introducing many pro-development schemes but failing in its execution. For that it needs to bring transparency and sincerity at all level,” added KPCC working president.
Rajya Sabha member Oscar said, “If representatives of the people and activists of the parties work together, it is easy to achieve the goal. Panchayat members play important role in organizing people and party members. They have very close contact with villagers. Most of the panchayats have women representatives. India has the best Panchayat Raj system. Let’s all work towards achieving that goal.”
A physically challenged Panchayat president Sudhakar Hangaluru was felicitated on the occasion.
Pramod Madhwaraj, minister for fisheries, sports and youth empowerment, M A Gafoor, chairman for Minority Commission, Prathap Chandra Shetty, MLC, Roshini Oliver, district convener of RGPRS, B M Sandeep, state convener, Janardhan Thonse, district Congress president, Rakesh Malli, state Intech president, Narasimha Murthy, Udupi Urban Development authority, Veronica Cornelio, KPCC secretary, Naveenchandra Shetty, Dr Deviprasad Shetty, Vishwas Ameen, president, district youth Congress, Amrith Shenoy, president of Congress campaign committee, Rakesh Malli, state INTUC president, Christon Almedia, president of NSUI, Pratibha Kulai, secretary of Women wing Karkala and others were present.
