Mangaluru, Feb 17: Bringing laurels to the city, 21-year-old bodybuilder ‘Mr Karnataka’ Mohammad Rameez has qualified for ‘Mr World’ to be held in Philippines in May and June later this year.
Rameez won 'Mr India' fitness title award at the 66th National Fitness and Bodybuilding Championship after wining multiple bodybuilding events, jointly organised by Metroflex and Multi Gyms along with Karnataka Amateur Bodybuilders Association on February 10. He represents Karnataka in Indian Fitness and Body Building Federation. Bagging the first position at the contest, he made to the final showdown in Philippines.
Passion for power-lifting
Hailing from Kulur, Rameez is a young ambitious bodybuilder. With a lot of support and motivation from his parents Yakoob and Mumtaz and friends and family, Rameez was inspired by Shreyas Kamath, who is running body transformation training class.
Rameez was pursuing his pre-university at Rosario Composite Pre- University College when he developed a passion for power-lifting. Later, pursuing his graduation in St Aloysius College (Autonomous), Mangaluru, he was trained by well-known body aesthetic champion Vincent Prakash Carlo.
Multiple honours
Rameez has won power-lifting and bench-press championship in 2017. He has won two gold medals in international power-lifting in 2014. He is a seven-time state and two-time national power-lifting champion.
In 2016, he was conferred with ‘Young Achiever of the Year’ award for 2015-16, by Rotary Club, Mangaluru. Rameez had secured the first place twice in district level physic contest in the year 2017 and early this year. He also created back-to-back records in Mangalore University in 2015 and 2016, under 59 kg and 66 kg category respectively in power-lifting.
The athlete was one of the five winners at the national men's physique contest in 2016. Rameez bagged the title of ‘Young Achiever’ at Musclemania 2015 in Chennai. He further represented India and won two medals at the international power-lifting competition in 2014.
Now, Rameez is the brand ambassador for ‘Inspering Apparel Company’.
‘Dedicate my life to bodybuilding’
“I am training and getting ready for ‘Mr World’. I am very passionate about what I do and so will dedicate my life to bodybuilding. I am serving as a full time trainer and body transformation specialist,” says Rameez.
Advising upcoming bodybuilders, Rameez says, “Many of the youngsters are crazy of building muscles. They have to train in a disciplined way and manage food intake. Working hard is a must. I have a goal set in my mind and that keeps me going.”
