Mangaluru, Feb 16: Mangalore University inter collegiate football tournament for women 2017-18 was organized by St Aloysius College (Autonomous) on February 14 at the Centenary Grounds.
The tournament was inaugurated by Dr Gerald Santhosh D’Souza, assistant director of Physical Education, Mangalore University. He wished the teams all the best and inaugurated the tournament.
The first place was bagged by St Aloysius College, Mangaluru, followed by Field Marshal Cariappa College, Madikeri, Canara College, Mangaluru and SDM College, Ujire at second, third and fourth place respectively.
Results:
First match: Alva’s College, Moodbidri V/S Canara College, Mangaluru.
Canara College, Mangaluru, won the match 2-1.
Second match: St Aloysius College, Mangaluru V/s St Philomena College, Puttur.
St Aloysius College, Mangaluru won the match 6-0.
Third match: Field Marshal Cariappa college, Madikeri V/S Alva’s College of Physical Education.
Field Marshal Cariappa College, Madikeri won the match 1-0.
Fourth match: Mangalore University Campus, V/S SDM College, Ujire.
SDM College, Ujire won the match 1-0.
Semi-finals:
First match: St. Aloysius College, Mangaluru V/S Canara College, Mangaluru.
St. Aloysius College, Mangaluru won the match at full time the score was 1-1, Tiebreaker 4-3.
Second match: SDM College, Ujire V/S Field Marshal Cariappa College, Madikeri.
Field Marshal Cariappa College, Madikeri won the match at full time the score was 1-1, Tiebreaker 3-2.
Finals:
Field Marshal Cariappa College Madikeri V/S St Aloysius College, Mangaluru
St Aloysius College, Mangaluru won the match in tie breaker 3-1.
Fr Dr Praveen Martis, principal, St Aloysius College, Mangaluru and Dr Gerald Santhosh D’Souza, assistant director of Physical Education, Mangalore University were the chief guests of the function.
Dr Gerald Santhosh D’Souza gave away the second and third position certificates and medals.
Fr Dr Praveen Martis gave away the medals and certificates to the winners.
The permanent Trophies were distributed to the winners and runners-up by the guests jointly.
Donnet D’Souza, physical Director, St Aloysius College and convener of the tournament, welcomed and thanked the guests, players and conducted the proceedings.
