Dubai, Feb 14: Gallerie Orchid, will host an exhibition of paintings titled Indian Kaleidoscope, at the India Club, here.

The exhibition will feature a mix of master collections and up and coming artists. This is the second edition of the Indian Kaleidoscope, held in the UAE. The exhibition will feature 25 selected paintings including works of M F Hussein, Shantharam Hattarki, Ramesh Pachpande, Wilson Souza, Jeevan Salian, Gurudas Shenoy, Pradeep D M, Deviprasad Rao, Philip D Mello, Shashi Bane and Ramesh Rao.

The exhibition will showcase Indian culture as is represented on canvas by the artists. This is Gallerie Orchid’s 65th exhibition. The exhibition is curated by William Pais. Kevin Colaco, an avid art collector of long standing, will raise the toast and enlighten the audience on collecting art.

"Featured in this exhibition is a mix of nationally known masters starting from M F Hussein, who spearheaded India’s march into modernism, Shanthram Hattarki, Ramesh Pachpande, Philip D Mello, Devi Prasad Rao, Ramesh Rao and promising names like, Jeevan A S, Wilson Souza, Sharath and Pradeep D M who have more than made a mark on the art space. A carefully selected art work, needless to say, is a treasure that surpasses generations, an indelible record of time at which it is produced and brings perpetual value to its owner and surroundings. Presenting this opinion on art, I am compelled to borrow from the lines of the toast raised by Giselle Mehta on the occasion of Gallerie Orchid’s 50th show, 'Owning a fancy car is still related to its utility, while a painting proclaims the fine instincts of a cultured connoisseur'.

A work of art stands better chance of value than a piece of automobile or anything that is perceived as valuable.
