Udupi: Scores of aspiring singers queue up at ‘Voice of Karavali’ season-2 auditions

Udupi, Feb 13: Budding singers lined up to sing their hearts out as the auditions for ‘Voice of Karavali - 2018', the second season of the most watched singing reality show in the coastal region, got underway at Rotary hall, Brahmavar on February 11.

‘Voice of Karavali - 2018' is being organized by Rotary Brahmavar in association with ‘Being Social’ and Daijiworld media. The auditions of the show received overwhelming response as participants came from different parts of the coastal region.

Assistant governor of Rotary Brahmavar, district 3180, B M Bhat inaugurated the audition programme by lighting the lamp. Addressing the participants he said, “This is one of the best platforms to display your talent. Participation is important than winning a prize. Participation encourages one to engage in more such programmes. Let this show get more success.”



Avinash Kamath of ‘Being Social’ said, “The first season of ‘Voice of Karavali’ received an amazing response and was a success last year. The show inspired many other institutions to conduct such singing shows. Support from Rotary Club Brahmavar is a great thing. This show will shape up all contestants’ future.”

Ashok Acharya, noted singer and one of the judges of the audition round said, “This show is not a parameter to check one’s talent. Yes, prizes are given away for winning the show, but that does not valuate one’s personality or talent one has. I wish the very best to all the participants.”

The organizers received more than 150 registrations on the first day after circulating the contest information on social media.

Revathi Nadiga, a popular theatre artiste, Vidwan Ashok Acharya and a noted Akashvani A grade artiste Vasanthi Shenoy were the udges for the auditions.

Former president of Rotary Club Brahmavar Alwyn Andrade welcomed the gathering and president of Rotary Club Brahmavar Shridhar Acharya rendered the vote of thanks.

Ganesh Upadhya, secretary of Rotary Club Brahmavar, and Sujatha Andrade were also present.

As many as 30 contestants, who were selected in the audition round will get an opportunity to enter the second round of ‘Voice of Karavali’ which will be held at Valentine Hall in Brahmavar on February 13.

Providing an interesting twist to the show, the top nine contestants of last season’s ‘Voice of Karavali’, will join the 30 contestants who are selected at the present auditions. The award round is scheduled to be held on February 25.

The winners will get twin awards titled 'Voice of Karavali - 2018' season-2, which is based on judges’ selection and 'People's Choice Singer', which is based audience’s votes. Cash prizes of Rs 15,000 and Rs 10,000 along with attractive trophies and certificates will be given away to the winners.

The third, fourth and fifth place winners will get Rs 5,000, Rs 3000 and Rs 2000 respectively.

There will be attractive prizes on offer for the audience at the venue.
