Kaup, Jan 6: “Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on January 8 will lay foundation for and inaugurate Rs 445 crore worth projects to be implemented in Kaup,” said MLA Vinay Kumar Sorake.
Speaking at a press conference called in Kaup press club on Friday, he revealed the details of the government’s achievements and also about the chief minister’s visit to the region.
“Foundation will be laid for a project worth Rs 41 crore to supply drinking water from Manipur lake to Kaup Municipal Council and surrounding villages, scientific research center worth Rs 400 crore in Belapu, industrial zone worth Rs 10 crore, government polytechnic worth Rs 8.63 crore, waste disposal unit of Kaup Municipal Council and drain water purification unit at a cost of Rs 10 crore and works of other departments.
“The chief minister who will arrive in Kaup at 4 pm will inaugurate the new building of Kaup Municipal Council built at a cost of Rs five crore. Government benefits will be distributed from various departments to 10,000 beneficiaries. As many as 10,000 people from cooperative societies, KMF, Navodaya, Stree Shakthi and self-help groups are expected to participate in the conference,” he said.
Taluk formed by including 30 villages
“Kaup taluk was announced in the last budget. A notification has been released to solve problems in this connection. Matter will be finalized on January 7. Complaints will be received after that. Kaup taluk will be formed by joining thirty villages. Local offices will be opened in Shirva, Padubidri, Hiriadka and Kaup for the convenience of people after formation of the taluk,” he said.
Rs 1,700 crores funds for Kaup
“Several projects worth Rs 1,700 crore have been implemented in Kaup. The chief minister will be requested to provide funds for Hejmady port, Mini Vidhana Saudha and cleaning of rivers in the future,” said Sorake.
Waste disposal unit at Elloor
“The department of environment has approved the construction of waste disposal unit at Elloor. We have not asked for land for the purpose in Elloor. The deputy commissioner has provided the land. Those who are opposing it are quiet about problems caused by UPCL. The works here get held up because of those who protest for the sake of protests. It is not worth thinking about it,” he said.
