Udupi, Jan 5: BJP party members on Thursday, January 4, staged a protest in front of DC office, Rajathadri, Manipal condemning the brutal murder of party worker Deepak Rao.
Addressing the protesters, former Udupi MLA Raghupati said, “Party activists are being murdered. Only young activists of Hindu outfits are being targeted and not any other political leaders or persons with criminal background. Murder takes place only where Congress ministers are in power. Deepak Rao is from Katipalla of Suratkal and Congress MLA Mohiuddin Bava belongs to that area. Prashanth Poojary from Moodbidri and another RSS activist Sharath Madiwala from Bantwal were killed where Ramanath Rai is district in-charge.
“Not only BJP or Hindu activists, but also people who support Hindus should think about masterminds behind all these murders. Without the support of Congress leaders, it is not possible to carry out such brutal murder. I am sure that the murders are taking place with the support of Congress leaders,” he said.
Criticizing the Siddaramaiah-led Congress government, he said, “Many cases have been withdrawn by the state government against those who have involved in criminal and communal activities. This has encouraged Congress activists to commit such heinous crimes. The state government is in favour of minorities. That is why Hindu activists are being killed. We need to hold massive protest against these issues.
“The Congress government has transferred sincere IPS officers. An honest officer like Sanjiv M Patil, Udupi former SP got transferred within six months. People should support such sincere government officers,” Bhat said.
Sunil Kumar, MLA Karkala said, “The government should release compensation of Rs 50 lac to Deepak’s family immediately. The state government discusses about investigation in case of Hindu activist’s murder, but it does not apply to the other community. Congress leader Janandhar Poojary made the government to release compensation in Kabir murder case. He was suspected in cattle trafficking. On his demand, the government released compensation before Kabir’s funeral. The Congress government always stands first to help Congress activists, but are acting blind towards Hindu activists.
“Ramanath Rai is directly responsible for Deepak Rao’s death. Party workers are being killed wherever Congress leaders are in power. People should wake up now. The police department is not able to carry out fair investigation because it is under the control of the state government. The home ministry is acting according to the whims and fancies of the Congress leaders. State home ministry is not bothered about the people of Dakshina Kannada. The attitude of home ministry is favourable only to a certain community,” he added.
District BJP president Mattaru Ratnakar Hegde alleged, “As many as 24 Hindus have been murdered by certain community after Congress came to power in the state. Rudresh, Kuttappa, Ravi, Sharath Madivala, Prashanth Poojary and now, Deepak Rao adds to the list. Congress leaders are killing Hindu, Bajrang Dal and BJP activists.”
Protesting BJP members demanded a fair investigation on Deepak Rao murder case.
