Kasargod, Jan 4: A Crack was noticed in the railway track near Uduma railway gate between the town railway station here and Kotikulam on Wednesday January 3 morning. As the worker who noticed the crack conveyed information to the concerned immediately, a possible catastrophe was averted.
The crack was noticed minutes before Parashuram Express train from Mangaluru to Nagarcoil was to pass through this track.
Line worker, Brijlal, noticed the crack at about 6.40 am and informed railway officials. Immediately all trains were stopped at the previous stations. While Parashuram Express was withheld at Kalnadu station, the train from Mangaluru to Kozhikode was stopped at Kasargod station.
Railway officials and other staff temporarily repaired the section and paved way for movement of trains in about an hour. By 10.30 am, the crack was completely repaired and movement of all trains was restored.
