Mumbai, Jul 18: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has summoned pace bowler Mohammad Asif to appear before the disciplinary committee on July 23.

"We have received a six-page report (three pages in Arabic and three pages translated into English) from Dubai authorities where he was detained for 19 days for having a contraband substance in his wallet," revealed Nadeem Akram, the Director of Human Resources.

According to sources, the documents contain the following:

Dubai Police report: Documents providing details and circumstances under which the bowler's arrest was made in Dubai on June 1.

Laboratory report: Which says the banned substance found in Asif's wallet was opium but urine report was found to be negative.

Prosecutor's report: Which details circumstances under which he was sent back from Dubai to Pakistan.

The report does not mention anything about whether the bowler would need prior permission from the ministry (barring visa formalities) to enter into UAE again and there is no "banned" stamp on his passport, it is learnt.

It is not certain whether the PCB would be required to send this report to World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) but the PCB official made it clear that opium is not a banned substance under the WADA code.

Asif will appear before a three-member committee comprising Shafqat Naghmi (COO), Nadem Akram (Director, Human Resources) and Zakir Khan (Director, International Operations).

"We hope to finish off the inquiries within 2-3 days," said Akram.

Mohd. Asif has been learnt to have been summoned to have his B sample tested in a WADA accredited laboratory in Switzerland tentatively on July 28.
