UAE, Jul 15: Emirates Putturians, United Arab  Emirates, which is in its eighth year of existence,has unanimously elected Alex Gonsalves as its president for the year 2008-09.

Gonsalves is a wellknown personality amongst Putturians and is one of the founder members of the association. He had been a committee member of the organisation between 2001 and 2005 and vice president thereafter, till date.

Deena Coelho, secretory of the association, thanked the outgoing president Antony A Mascarenhas for his tireless efforts and administrative transparency maintained through out the the past three years. His faith in teamwork has done wonders for the organisation,  and all the three annual functions held under his leadership proved to be big crowd pullers becuse of the unique concepts and innovative ideas introduced by the outgoing president, she said.

Antony thanked the office bearers and committee members of the organisation for the wholehearted support extended to him during his stint at the helm for the past three years and vowed to continue to work for the association as before.
 
The newly appointed Office bearers of the organisation, for the 2008-09 are as follows.

President - Alex Consalves, Vice President - Ajith coelho, Secretary - Deena Coelho, Asst Secretary - Diljyoti, Treasurer - Gilbert Mascarenhas, Event Co-ordinator - Nirmala Mascarenhas, Cultural Co-ordinator - Lidia Crasta.

Core Committee: Antony A Mascarenhas, Valarian Gonsalves and Nirmala Madtha.

Sub. Committee: Kiran Pais, Praveen Rebello, Pramod Rebello, Alwin Crasta, Philomena Mascarenhas, Loyson D'cunha
