JEDDAH, Jul 13: Police shut down a racketeering operation run by six young women who are accused of setting up a fake job-placement agency that targeted women. Police did not disclose the nationality of the women except to say they were all Arab.

According to a police source, the women were charging job seekers SR200 to register. Several young women, a combination of high school and college educated Saudis, complained that they paid the money for naught.

Police said the women running the operation had taken out newspaper advertisements to lure their victims.

Meanwhile, local police shut down a chop shop run by four foreign men of undisclosed nationality. The men, all illegal residents, were using the location to dismantle stolen cars to sell the parts on the black market.

Police did not divulge the location of the garage, except to say that the men were also running an unlicensed car repair operation there.
