Kasargod, Dec 6: On the occasion of the anniversary of Babri Masjid demolition, stones were pelted at a bus and some vehicles, at Uppala and Kumble in the district on Wednesday December 6.
A private bus that was on its routine trip to Anekal from Talapady via Hosangady was stoned at Kadambar Kileri. Passengrs of the bus however escaped unhurt.
On Wednesday morning, a lorry that was moving towards Mangaluru was targetted by stone-pelting miscreants at Uppala Hidayatnagar. A gang which came in motor bikes threw stones at Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation bus at Uppala Kaikamba before fleeing. The window panes of the bus were smashed in the incident but the passengers escaped without any harm.
In another incident, a gang which came in motor bikes, pelted stones at a mini bus at Kumble Arikkad.
In the meanwhile, buses are off the roads on Uppala - Bayar route. In other routes too movement of buses has been very scarce. Police personnel from Uppala and Kumble stations have taken precautionary measures to ensure that unsavoury incidents do not recur in their respective limits.
