London, Jun 18: Want to cut flab? Gorge on a healthy breakfast everyday and the bigger the bowl, the better the result, says a new study.
Researchers have found that women who eat around half of their daily calories in the morning lose more weight in the long term as compared to those who start their day with just a small breakfast.
What's more is that good breakfasters are less likely to pile the pounds back on, the study found.
According to the researchers, eating a morning meal packed with protein and carbohydrates not only cuts cravings for sweet or starchy foods later in the day but also boosts the metabolism in the body.
Lead researcher Daniela Jakubowicz said that popular diets which merely restrict carbohydrates often fail because they do not curb cravings for calorie-rich foods.
The researchers at Hospital de Clinicas in Venezuela have based their findings on an analysis of the breakfasting habits of 100 obese young women, British newspaper the 'Daily Mail' reported
