Udupi, Oct 13: “District BJP Udupi will organize ‘Parivarthana Samavesha’ on October 16 at Valentine Compound near Ashray Hotel, Brahmava where nearly 500-1000 people are expected to join Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP),” informed BJP district president Mattaru Ratnakar Hegde on Friday, October 13.
Addressing media at town BJP office, Kadiyali, he said, “Since a year, many leaders of different parties have joined BJP in huge numbers. Former MP Jayaprakash Hegde joined BJP three months ago. ‘Parivarthana Samavesha’ is being organized for the newly joined members. Party leaders have met former BJP leaders. We are expecting nearly 4000-5000 people to take part in the meet.”
“Ananth Kumar, union minister for chemicals and fertilizers, Shobha Karandlaje, MP, Udupi-Chikkamagaluru, R Ashoka, former deputy chief minister and MLA of Bengaluru, Nalin Kumar Katil, MP, Mangaluru, V Sunil Kumar, MLA, Karkala, Kota Srinivas Poojary, MLC, Cptn Ganesh Karnik, Jayaprakash Hegde, MP, K Raghupati Bhat, former MLA Udupi, Lalaji R Mendon, former MLA, Kaup, Laxminarayan, former MLA, Byndoor, Tbingale Vikramarjuna Hegde, state BJP secretary, K Uday Kumar Shetty, Dinakar Babu, president, zilla panchayat and Sheela K Shetty, vice-president of ZP will be present at the convention,” he informed.
‘Nava Karnataka Nirmana Ratha Yatra’ from Nov 2
“’Nava Karnataka Nirmana Ratha Yatra’ will begin from November 2, headed by BJP state president Yeddyuruppa. The plan is to have a specially designed ‘Ratha’ to criss-cross all the 224 assembly constituencies in the state during the course of the two-month long yatra and expose the ‘misdeeds’ of the Siddaramaiah government. The yathra is scheduled to enter Udupi city on November 11, 12,” he said.
“There are 1059 booths in Udupi-Chikkamagaluru constituency. Three bike riders will go to attend a convention in Bengaluru from each booth along with a pillion rider. Other party workers can reach Bengaluru by bus, car or other vehicle. The convention will be held, headed by BJP president Amit Shah. Udupi BJP plans to send 3500-4000 members from the district,” he added.
Mathru Purna Scheme
Commenting on Mathru Purna Scheme he said, “Chief minister Siddharamaiah launched mid day meals daily for free, but there is lack of space and staff in Anganwadis to provide good service. The quality of food is not good. It is like a sort of torture to pregnant women. It is better to give them financial assistance instead of low quality food.”
‘Anti-superstition bill should not hurt one’s feelings’
Speaking regarding the implementation of anti-superstition bill ‘Karnataka Prevention and Eradication of Inhuman Evil Practices and Black Magic Bill- 2017’ he said, “The government could take action against black magic. But, the bill includes ‘Kenda Seve’, ‘Kola’, ‘Nemotsava’, ‘jathras’ and others which are regularly held in rural areas. There is no harm in that. The government’s new bill should not hurt one’s feelings.”
BJP to protest against K C Venugopal
Commenting on the allegations against AICC general secretary and Karnataka in-charge of the party, KC Venugopal of raping actress, solar scam accused Saritha Nair of Kerala, he said, “Venugopal should be kept on leave till he is cleared of the allegations. If he continues in the same position, BJP members will protest against the same.”
