Mangaluru, Oct 7: In a suicide attempt, a teenager jumped off a building at Adu Maroli here on the evening of Saturday October 7.
Pratham, a student of 9th standard, is said to be in a critical condition.
Son of Padmanabha, an employee at the income-tax office, and Vishala, a telecommunications employee, Pratham jumped off the third floor of his neighbour's building.
It is learnt that before jumping off the building, Pratham left a note in which he reportedly stated that he was committing the act as he was poor in studies. But the note was written in a way that arose suspicion about the deadly Blue Whale challenge, wherein he stated that he was 'not interested' in anything and he was under the influence of Blue Whale and should not be blamed, sources said. He also left several cryptic messages scribbled on a white sheet on the terrace of the building. He also stated that his parents had always supported him.
The police arrived at the spot and are checking his mobile phone too, to determine if there was really any Blue Whale challenge angle. Police further said that his writings are being analysed.
His neighbours as well parents reportedly saw him walk along the top of compound walls for the past one week, but did not suspect anything amiss.
Pratham has been admitted to a private hospital.
Kankanady city police have registered a case and further investigations are on.
