Bengaluru, Oct 6: Karnataka aims to leverage on its technological and manufacturing prowess to attain a position of leadership and excellence in manufacturing and overall industrial development, Large and Medium Industries Minister R V Deshpande said on Friday.
The minister was speaking at the Mumbai roadshow in connection with the Vendor Development and Investors Summit on November 23 and 24 at BIEC, Bengaluru, which is being hosted by the State Government along with Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).
The summit will act as a common platform for CPSUs, SPSUs, Mega and Large units in identifying vendors of their choice in terms of production capacity and quality standards.
This meet will also help MSMEs understand the need of the OEMs. In addition, this programme will benefit MSMEs in planning their production and product diversification.
The Summit will facilitate the participating companies in exploring the investment opportunities in the State of Karnataka and firm up their new/expansion investment proposals with the State Government in terms of project approvals or MOUs.
To promote the event among Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM’s) and MSME’s, Deshpande along with Senior Level officers of Karnataka Government visited Mumbai.
During the day, the delegation met with some of the key industries from Mumbai to invite them to participate in the event and to discuss their interest in expanding their business in Karnataka. The delegation had B2G meetings with more than 15 companies covering various sectors.
He met Anand Mahindra, Chairman & Managing Director Mahindra Group, Manish Choksi, President & Managing Director Asian Paints, Sunil Khanna, President & MD Emerson, Nagesh Basavanahalli, MD & CEO, Greaves Cotton, Shhyam Singhania, Chairman, Enarr Capital, Vimal Kejriwal, MD & CEO, KEC International, Puneet Gupta, Director, Om Logistics, Biju Mathew, Head Procurement South BASF, Joy Chakraborty COO Hinduja Hospital, Sunder Balasubramaniam, VP United Phosphorous Ltd, Suketu Shah, Joint MD, Mukand Ltd, besides others.
Deshpande discussed with the companies the support and facilitation provided by Government of Karnataka for implementation of their projects in the state. He also invited them to participate in the forthcoming “Vendor Development & Investors’ Summit 2017” in Bengaluru.
In the evening, CII along with the State Government had organised a Road Show wherein presentation was made on “Manufacturing Eco system of the State” to the large audience present.
More than 200 industry representatives and prospective investors participated in during the Roadshow.
In his address, Deshpande said the State Government is focused on providing momentum for imaging itself as the most industry friendly state in the country.
While focusing on the growth, we are taking cautious steps to ensure that the development would not have adverse effects on the environment, people and the ecosystem.
He also outlined the potential for investments in various sectors in the state; viz., Aerospace & Defence Equipment Manufacturing, Automobiles, Auto components & Electric Vehicles manufacturing, Biotech, Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices, Agriculture & Food Processing and Machinery, Textile and Apparels and Innovation and Start-ups among others.
D V Prasad, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary, in his address emphasised on the initiatives undertaken by the state to develop the ecosystem for the overall industrial development; with special focus on the MSME sectors.
Deepak Sood, CEO, Invest Karnataka Forum, made a detailed presentation during the Roadshow on “Enabling Manufacturing Ecosystem of Karnataka.”
Ninad Karpe, Chairman CII Western Region & Director Aptech Ltd., Ms Harshbeena Zaveri Vice Chairman & Managing Director NRB Bearings Ltd. and Sandeep Kumar Maini Chairman Maini Group joined in the Roadshow along with others.
