Udupi, Oct 6: "Roles being played by revenue department and post offices for efficiently delivering facilities being provided by the government to people living in rural areas are very important. It is heartening to note that an office of the revenue department as well as post office are being opened in a single building located in Belapu village, which has emerged as a model village in all aspects," observed former minister and MLA, Vinay Kumar Sorake.
He was speaking after inaugurating the office of the village accountant and Paniyoor post office which began functioning in the Pabniyoor panchayat building within the limits of Belapu gram panchayat for the convenience of villagers on Thursday October 5. "In addition to Belapu, various development works are being executed in areas like Kalathur, Ellur and Kaup municipality areas adjoining it. All these things are the gifts being given to the people by the government. It has become a habit for some to raise discordant notes for everything, even when some development happens. In spite of dissenting voices, we have been getting overwhelming support from the people. Because of this, our love and affection for this village is getting stronger with passage of time," he explained.
Dr Deviprasad Shetty, president of Belapu gram panchayat, addressing the people, hailed Sorake for contributing immensely to the progress of Belapu village. He termed Sorake as a model legislator, taking into account grants being pooled by him for the development initiatives like university centre, industrial park, Ambedkar Bhavan, and Shadi Mahal projects here. He also praised Sorake for providing grants for Morarji school at Kalathur, ITI at Elur, and crores of rupees for the development various roads.
Tahsildar, Pradeep Kurdekar, postal superintendent, Rajashekhar Bhat, assistant superintendent for posts, Srinath S B, and talukk panchayat member, U C Shekhabba, participated as chief guests.
Belapu gram panchayat vice president, Shobha Bhat, panchayat devleopment officer, H R Ramesh, village accountant, Ganesh mesta, post master, Rajesh and several others were present.
Manager of Javanaraatte branch of Belapu Cooperative Agricultural Bank, Naveen Kumar, presented the programme nd proposed vote of thanks.
