Mangaluru, Sep 23: The district BJP on Saturday September 23 condemned a recent Facebook post insulting deity Deyi Baidethi, the mother of Koti-Chennaya duo, and said that the party would be holding a protest in this regard on October 2.
Addressing a press meet at the BJP office here, party's district president Sanjeeva Matandoor said, "This (Facebook post against the deity) has hurt the sentiments of the Hindu community. The accused has been arrested but there are others who were with him when clicking the obscene photographs Deyi's statue. This issue has been politicised and there are efforts to close the case.
"There have been several instances where religious shrines were targetted. Several thefts of articles and idols from temples are also being reported these days.
"The BJP and other Hindu organisations will hold a protest march from Puttur junction to Eshwaramangala on October 2 against the insult to Deyi Baidethi," he said.
