Mangaluru, Sep 23: While some locals write to the Prime Minister about damaged roads, a consumer tweeted to the minister for petroleum and natural gas, Dharmendra Pradhan, about an empty gas cylinder being delivered to him. To his delight, the problem was resolved within hours.
Padmanabha Kamath from Maurishka Park in Kodialbail, a client of Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited, tweeted to the petroleum minister about his grievance on Thursday and his problem of days got solved in no time.
The new cylinder was booked in July. But when it arrived, it was kept aside as the old cylinder was still being used. Later, during Ganesh Chaturthi, Laxmi Kamath, daughter- in- law of Padmanabha Kamath, found that the cylinder had no gas while lifting it to fix to the stove.
Kamath complained to the agency, who in turn came and said that the gas in the cylinder was exhausted as it was used up. Padmanabha argued that it was not possible to use the cylinder when the seal was intact. But the agency had no explanation to it. Yet they did not solve the problem.
Repeated requests and personal visits to the agency bore no fruits. They refused to exchange the old empty cylinder too. Padmanabha, therefore, decided to complain to the petroleum minister to prevent such injustice to other gas subscribers.
The minister tweeted back in minutes asking for more details on the agency which Padmanabha provided.
To his surprise, the agency staff rushed to his house. At the same time media persons had phoned the agency to know how the problem was addressed after the minister intervened. The agency took away the empty cylinder and gave Padmanabha a new one.
Sadly, it required a complaint to the minister to get the agency to act.
