Mangaluru: Woman selling fake power bank arrested

Mangaluru, Sep 23: Bunder police have arrested Parvathi Bai (50), a Maharashtra based woman for selling fake power banks on Friday, Sep 22.

The incident is important as the suspicious power bank found with a Dubai bound passenger on Tuesday looks similar to the power bank being sold by the woman. It is said that such power banks are being manufactured in Maharashtra.

The suspicious power bank was found in the airport with Padil resident Mohammed Mansoor who was scheduled to take a flight to Dubai on Tuesday. Detailed investigations revealed that it is a fake power bank.

The Minister in charge of the Ministry or Department having administrative control of the BIS is the ex-officio President of the BIS.
    The organisation was formerly the Indian Standards Institution (ISI), set up under the Resolution of the then Department of Industries and Supplies No. 1 Std.(4)/45, dated 3 September 1946. The ISI was registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860.
    Now the question is suspect is arrested, how she is able to sell without any regulatory body which issues 'ISI' standard?
    I wonder if this 'Make in India' , we are not only far behind China, one day even 'Somalia' will be ahead of quality production.
    When Samsung batteries have exploded company is quick to withdraw the entire batch number and successfully relaunched with enhance safety in its new series. China gave death penalty to the CEO who supplied adulterated milk powder.
    Due to lack of regulation in India lives hardly matters in country of billion plus population.
    This case need to be forwarded to Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) with criminal investigation.
