Mangaluru, Sep 20: The parents of Kavya, a student of Alva's high school, Moodbidri, who allegedly committed suicide in her hostel room in July, on Wednesday September 20 met home minister Ramalinga Reddy and demanded COD probe into the case.
Kavya's father Lokesh and mother Baby met the home minister at the police commissioner's office here during his visit to the city.
They were led by the committee members of Justice for Kavya Forum. They submitted a memorandum of their demands to the home minister.
In response, Reddy told Kavya's parents, "I have discussed this case during the meeting with police officers and the investigation is in the final stage. The police commissioner will reveal the details and findings very soon."
Speaking to reporters later, Dinakar Shetty of Justice for Kavya Forum said, "Sixty days have passed since the death of Kavya. But police still have not been able to determine the actual reason behind her death. They have not even interrogated the PT teacher Praveen. Now they are trying to close this case without further investigation. They have submitted a report to the DC, in which they have mentioned that Praveen has no connection to the Alva's institution.
"We have lost faith in the police, hence we demand COD investigation into the case. Besides this, we have planned to organize a half-naked protest on September 23 to draw the attention of the authorities and the people. The protest rally will start from Wenlock hospital and end in front of the DC office," he said.
