Mangaluru, Sep 16: District BJP unit staged protest outside DC office on Saturday, September 16, demanding the resignation of minister K J George over the incident of DySP M K Ganapathy’s alleged suicide.
Addressing protestors, district BJP president Sanjeev Matandoor said, “BJP has pressed for CBI probe into the DySP Ganapathy suicide case and also demanded the resignation of K J George from the cabinet ever since the suicide came to light. DySP Ganapathy had clearly accused minister K J George for indulging in frequent harassment in his dying declaration. But to defend K J George, chief minister Siddaramaiah handed over the case to CID. Unfortunately, within three months, clean chit was given to K J George. Later, DySP Ganapathy's family knocked the doors of the Supreme Court demanding CBI probe into the matter which was ordered a week ago. K J George should be sacked from the cabinet as the Supreme Court has ordered CBI probe into the case.”
BJP leader Devdas Shetty said, “DySP Ganapathy was a sincere officer who served at different loactions in Dakshina Kannada. K J George, who was held responsible for his suicide due to harassment, was saved by CM Siddaramaiah and was reinstated to the cabinet. The Supreme Court has now ordered a CBI probe as they were not satisfied of the previous report from CID. The SC also stated that evidence was destroyed. We demand the resignation of minister K J George or else we will continue holding statewide protests demanding the resignation of chief minister Siddaramaiah.”
BJP general secretary Capt Brijesh Chowta said, “CM Siddaramaiah is safeguarding his close aide George in the DySP Ganapathy suicide case by giving him clean chit and reinstating him back to his cabinet. K J George is the minister for urban development and we can see a complete collapse of the infrastructure in Bengaluru. He has to resign from the cabinet at the earliest.”
BJP leaders Monappa Bhandary, Sathyajith Surathkal, Bharath Shetty, Kishore Rai, Vedavyas Kamath and others were present.

The district BJP staged a protest demanding the resignation of K J George which was held near BJP office here as the district administration banned the protest from being held at Clock Tower.
Addressing the protestors, district BJP president Mattar Rathnakar Hegde said, “The CM should seek the resignation of K J George at any cost. Siddaramaih government has given suicide bhagya to farmers and police officials. Deputy superintendent of police (DySP) M K Ganapati was known for his strict rule and was known as a prompt officer. Whilst serving in Mangaluru he took stern action against conversion. K J George is directly associated with Ganapati's suicide. For this reason he was also withdrawn from his ministership. Now the Supreme Court has ordered a CBI investigation.
"For conducting an impartial investigation, K J Geoge should resign from his post. I also condemn the Udupi Muncipal Corporation for banning the protest at Clock Tower and at the Jatka stand. We have conducted many protests against the state government. The Congress government is afraid of us and has taken a decision to ban the protest in public places."
Suresh Shetty, Gurme K Uday Kumar Shetty, Dinakar Babu, Geetha Shet and BJP party men participated in the protest.
