Mangaluru, Sep 11: "Karnataka home minister, Ramalinga Reddy, only asked for postponement of the unity march that was proposed to be held by us from Farangipet to Mani on September 12. He has never advised us against organizing it," said Dakshina Kannada district in-charge minister, B Ramanath Rai.
He was clarifying to media persons who approached him with questions after the Dasara sports meet organized at Mangala stadium here on Sunday September 10.
"Unlike BJP, we do not break the law and disrupt peace. Congress party never allows people to take law into their hands. Both the home minister and police department have sought the Padayatra to be postponed. We will soon announce the new date of the Padayatra," Rai stated.
Rai had recently announced that an apolitical Padayatra will be led from Farangipet to Mani on September 12. In the meanwhile, the government did not allow BJP Yuvamorcha to hold its 'Mangaluru Chalo' motor bike rally on September 7. On that occasion, the home minister had said that Padayatra too would not be allowed.
